  Boat Ride at Lake Pichola

The largest of Udaipur's lakes (and the only one currently with a substantial amount of water in it), Lake Pichola was augmented by Udai Singh's decision to divert nearby mountain streams into it. This ghat, as the steps leading down to Indian water sources are called, is on the western edge of the city center. It's quiet at midday, but full of women doing laundry in the mornings.

Lake Pichola has two manmade islands: one is fully covered by the Lake Palace Hotel (pictured on the front of my Udaipur page). The other, Jag Mandir, contains another palace and park complex that is sometimes open to the public. I went there at night for a banquet, which was one of the highlights of my stay. (That's where I met the maharana!)

It's possible to take boat rides around this lake, which is a nice way to get a good look at the City Palace from the water side.

  Lok Kal Mandal

The collection exhibited by this samll museum and foundation for the prservation and promotion of folk art includes folk dresses, ornaments, dolls, masks, folk musical instruments paintingds & puppets. The world renowned puppeteers of Udaipur, custodians of an ancient tradion, regularly put up first class shows during daytime & evening.

  West Zone Cultural Center

West Zone Cultural Center is Government Body which provides facilities to the creative development of performing arts, visual arts, district, state level, inter and intra zonal level among the member states in association with various art academies of state and Central Govt. Every year WZCC organises various fairs and festival and artists and craftsmen all across from India participate here. WZCC also organises puppet shows daily at Bagore ki Haveli & Shilpgram.
